Toothpick Jeans: Alive and Well

I will admit that I never thought I would ever wear tapered jeans in my life after forcing my foot through a hand-me down pair of jeans I received from an aunt.

I hated the look and hoped to never see them succeed in the fashion world. I will admit that I own two pairs of these newly fashioned skinny jeans (dark rinse and white) and I am so pleased to see the lower waistline and stretch material seen on this returning fashion. Granted, I will always own a bootcut pair of jeans, but I will make room for these amazing new Toothpick jeans from J.Crew.

J.Crew: Stretch Toothpick Jeans in Midnight Wash ($125)

Can I also add that I am happy to rid my closet of pre-worn looking jeans with rips, tears, stains and patches. I have graduated high school AND college, thank you very much.

Quilling up some art

I think my favorite feature from my previous post on Anthropologie's store displays was the cardboard quilling on the wall. So, I was excited to see freshly{blended} post about Yulia Brodskaya's quilling artwork. Immaculate and beautiful.

Holiday Inspirations: Anthropologie-style

I have been spying some amazing photos from window displays at Anthropologies across the country. I realize that it is probably past the time for thumbing through ideas for Christmas decor, but I couldn't resist drooling over these amazing displays. (Note some of these images may be from last year's window displays as well.)

Winning Embroidery...

Guess who will be embroidering this holiday season? Yours truly! I just won an amazing Sublime Stitching embroidery kit from Creature Comforts. I can't wait to get my hands on it and start spinning out creations!

Pick o' the day: Suspended Seagull

Last December, my hubby and I drove to Pensacola Beach to spend our Christmas holiday. I am missing the way the beach felt like I was back on the northern west coast, cold breeze, water splashing up over the wet sand. I will keep dreaming about the cool ocean.

Airplanes [clusters]

Life Magazine now has images available for searching out on Google. I immediately got sucked in to looking through pages and pages of black and white photos with airplanes. Of course, now I am getting obsessed....like always.

Life Magazine: Airplane F-89 by photographer Loomis Dean

Here are some ways to get some memorabilia of your own...

Uncommon Goods: Airplane Window ($1500)

I love dissections of materials and this layout is even better because it is written out in German. I could see this set up in a nice frame to hang on the wall.

Etsy seller SurrenderDorothy: Anatomy of a Jumbo Jet ($10.59)

This is another great example of airplanes explained in detail and ready to hang on the wall.
Etsy seller MoxyFoxBooks: 1940 Aircraft Maintenance Book ($26.99)

Christmas: Wish List Hubby [1]

I thought I would share some items I've been looking at getting for my hubby for Christmas. I dislike general "male" gifts because sometimes there is obviously no thought behind them. If you are in search of some ideas for your hubby, here are some ideas I am looking at.

These cards from a vintage travel agent game could be a great present if framed to hang on the wall in a set.

Etsy seller incognitoinmaine: Vintage Travel Agent Card Game ($15)

The only thing my hubby has asked for so far is a chess set. Yes, he has had a chess set before. In fact I believe we still have two chess boards. The problem is that we always lose a pawn or other chess piece in the set. He's been reading books on improving his play and has become very interested in getting a complete board set again. Traditional pieces are great, but these pieces have a modern pop to them that I love!

ChessHouse.com: 3.75" Berlin Ebonized Chess Pieces ($49.95)

I wish this coat rack was more affordable. I know my hubby would love this.

Huset-Shop: Offside Coat Rack by Runa Klock ($115)

My hubby loves soft t-shirts but he is also a bit picky about the shirts staying manly (let's just say he doesn't do preppy t-shirts). I think these are a perfect match for his manliness and his soft side.

Pick o' the day: Ceramic Basket Bowl

I realize that it has been a long time since I have posted on a "pick o' the day" so what perfect timing that I came across this ceramic basket bowl at Radici's online store!

This would be excellent to throw a colorful towel in to keep biscuits or rolls warm while guests are over for dinner.

The Fox and the Hare [clusters]

The fall/winter season has me thinking about foxes and hares. Once you start thinking about something so abstractly you begin to see these items everywhere you look. Well, I have found a handful of my favorites during my Etsy browsing.

Etsy seller hansigurum: Jackalope pattern ($6/per pattern)

These jackalope patterns make me wish I knew how to work with yarn...

Etsy seller ohmycavalier: Wolf Winter House ($30)

So, yes, this is supposedly a wolf but I could not help including him!

Etsy seller blackoutwell: The Frosty Fox ($20)

Etsy seller mylittlefingers: Mini Rabbit Pillow ($8)

I have this small place in my heart for shaped pillows like this. I used to have a Disney's Bambi blanket my grandma made me when I was young. It had a pocket in the corner that stored a shaped pillow of Thumper. I loved that blanket and pillow.

Etsy seller TheBlackSpotBooks: Fennec, oh Fennec you lovely little darling- Journal ($60)

Etsy seller traceface: Fox and Hare Print ($22)

This print is beautiful!

Etsy seller cicadastudio: Linen Fabric Swatch- Winter Foxes ($9.50)

Etsy seller spinstersummer: Rabbit Print- Stay Honest ($12)

Etsy seller FoxandClover: Fox and Hare Mini Bowls ($65/set of two)

I really love these clear little dishes with their yellow accents. I wonder what I could find to put in them...

Etsy seller ohmycavalier: Girl and Fox ($23)

I love these fox prints. The fox looks so refined and sofisticated. I can't help but to stare.

Etsy seller ohmycavalier: Two Trees Original Drawing ($250)

And...

Etsy seller ohmycavalier: Reading Wolves Gocco Print ($23)

Still staring....

Etsy seller jewelryvine: lucky day-blue topaz ($34)

Etsy seller UndertheStairStudio: Paper Circus with Dancing Hares ($15)

I wish I was a dainty little girl. I would beg my mother to buy this paper circus for me. Sadly, in reality it would have been lost under my bed after just a few weeks and squashed under piles of rocks from my ongoing rock collection I had.

Etsy seller ohmycavalier: Red Fox Labels ($6/set of five)

I need to find some items to stick these to. Perhaps some book flaps.

Etsy seller cricketpress: Biking Animals Coaster Set ($10/set of 6)

Etsy seller joecifur: Fox Tail Keychain ($7 each)

Yeah! These tails aren't made of fur so I can feel good hanging one from my car keys.

Etsy seller FablesandFoxes: Temptation Fox Hang Tags ($8/set of eight)

With present wrapping coming sooner than I'd like, I think these are great for adding to your wrapping strategy.

Etsy seller cricketpress: Fleet Foxes ($20)

This poster is so sexy.

Etsy seller poordogfarm: Royal Hares- special 2 prints! ($12/set of two)

Etsy seller cricketpress: The Fox and the Hare ($45)

Etsy seller Slowshirts: Gray Fox screenprint ($30)

So intense...I want to hang this on my wall, but I think I would be afraid of it after dark.

Esty seller cricketpress: Fox Trap ($40)

Etsy seller cricketpress: Man Man at The Dame ($20)

Etsy seller Champignons: Hares Print ($20)

Adorable bouncing hares.

Christmas: Wish List Me [1]

This is my first wish list of the Christmas season.

This broach would make any outfit gorgeous! My closet of outfits needs some gorgeous....

Etsy seller Accessoire: Eden-beaded felt broach ($19)

This retro flip clock is on my list for sure.
Uma: Retro Flip Clock ($34)

Garnet Hill: Frye Leather Slouch Boot ($478)

This is when I remind myself that this is a wish list and not an actual gift list. I could never ask someone to purchase these boots for me, let alone purchase them myself! But they are the exact boots I want...

This last item on my list is a book I have wanted to own for years now. My grandma used to read this book to me when I was little and I was always intrigued by the funny items this little old man purchased at the grocery store because he never learned how to read. The book is no longer in print and has slowly become a collector's item for more than just myself.
